Every moment ushers in a new hope; every moment each of us learns something new and adds it to our existing knowledge base; every moment we take pride in our knowledge, and every moment we unknowingly sink deeper into the ocean of fantasy and ignorance!
Such is the fate of humans. One would wonder how one becomes ignorant by gaining knowledge. To start with, almost all humans "LIVE" in the future and the past; the present is kind of non-existent. If one takes a moment to reflect on the self, this is so evident. The best example is Life Insurance! (no offence)
The gain in know-how and knowledge has been considered the very reason for the overall development in different spheres of life the world over. Human beings the most intelligent species in this world has over time made great advances in Science and with it "significant" progresses in the area of medicine and technology. With all these as our forte, we have no clue what will happen in the next few milliseconds! Now if we compare ourselves with animals (including birds and insects) we can quickly figure out our ignorance and helplessness.
Animals know what to eat or drink, one would hardly ever come across animals in the world with an upset stomach, although that is quite common with the domesticated! Animals in the wild are also very sure about what kind of food they should not consume. How many times have we heard of a wild dog suffering from hyper cholesterol? Have we ever heard of a tailorbird and a weaver bird having gone to an engineering school to learn how to build their nest? By the way there are also weaver ants! This is true for Bees and Beavers and many other animals.
There is an interesting story. A cat and a dog were fast asleep at night. A small noise was heard and the dog with its sharp hearing jumped up and started barking, the cat opened half an eye and whispered, nothing to worry it is just a neem leaf, go back to sleep…. Dogs are known for their ability to hear; cats can see during day and night. Humans have these abilities too, a bit limited in certain areas, though. A dog or cat or any other animal sleeps peacefully at night, be it on the wayside or in the jungle. Humans, on the other hand, spend time, effort and money to build a house, and in most houses the bedroom is the special place for sleep…. Alas, with all the loans and other fears (robbers and other safety concerns), sleep is hardly peaceful. Now, when it comes to progeny, the last few years have seen a rise in fertility clinics. Is it because of the advancement in medical sciences? So lesser offspring's required? Or is it nature's way of bringing back the equilibrium, after all humans are solely responsible for destroying the equilibrium of nature!
In the recent past we have all seen natural calamities, be it the Chennai floods or the Hurricanes in US, Mexico and Bangladesh, the earthquakes of Mexico and most recent the Cyclone Okhi which clearly exposes the vulnerability of man inspite of all the advancement in Technology and Science. It is important for man to realise that we are a part of nature like any other being. Agreed, man has the ability to think, but that does not give humans the right to change anything. Humans face all the problems and the wrath of nature because we meddle with nature. Look at animals: the only reason they suffer the wrath of nature is because of humans. Can we cite any example where animals have played spoil sport with the norms of nature? Every second is new. Let us live every second and be part of that very second. For when we live in the "Now" we will be aware of everything around us; we will be conscious of ourselves and sensitive to everything around us, entities that we generally fail to see, including our fellow human beings…. It will awaken our senses to realise that there is no need to rush; each of us is part of the Master Plan by the Master Planner(Prakriti), - "whatever I am entitled to, I will get, but only when the time is right". That "right time," however hard or smart we try, we can never find out!
